Quick summary: The Electrified Mobility Engineering set is a ChatStick-curated reading path of 4 Amazon KDP books by ChatVariety Team, covering EV motor control, automotive functional safety, hydrogen fuel cells and electrolyzers, and electric aircraft propulsion. It suits engineers, engineering students and technical managers moving into e-mobility. In our reviews each title was listed at US$2.99 on Kindle and US$9.99 in paperback (prices at the time of review; check Amazon for today's price).

  • Electric Aircraft Propulsion Engineering book cover

Electrification is not one technology but a stack of disciplines. A modern electric vehicle needs control algorithms that turn battery energy into precise torque, safety engineering that keeps high-voltage electronics and driver-assistance software from hurting anyone, and, increasingly, a view of alternative energy carriers such as hydrogen. Push the same technology into the sky and every constraint gets tighter.

Electrified Mobility Engineering is our name for four ChatVariety Team titles that trace that path from the drive to the aircraft. The books come from four different ChatVariety Team series on Amazon: the Electric Vehicle & Battery Engineering Series, the Software-Defined Vehicle Engineering Series, the Energy Systems Engineering Series and the Advanced Mobility Engineering Series. That makes this a reading path we assembled for readers moving into e-mobility, not an official box set, and each book is bought separately.

Recommended reading order

  1. Start with EV Traction Motor Control Engineering: it explains the chain from torque request to inverter switching signal that every electric powertrain relies on.

  2. Then Automotive Functional Safety Engineering: once you know how the drive works, learn how ISO 26262, SOTIF and cybersecurity define what "safe" means for EV and autonomous-vehicle electronics.

  3. Next, Hydrogen Economy Engineering: broaden from battery-electric drives to the second zero-emission route, with fuel cells, electrolyzers and the infrastructure behind them.

  4. Finish with Electric Aircraft Propulsion Engineering: the capstone, where batteries, motor controllers and a formal certification process meet the strictest weight and safety limits.

If your work is purely in hydrogen, book 3 also stands on its own and can be read first.

1. EV Traction Motor Control Engineering

Part of the Electric Vehicle & Battery Engineering Series, this book focuses on the three algorithms at the heart of most modern permanent-magnet traction drives. Field-oriented control uses the Clarke and Park transforms to regulate flux- and torque-producing currents separately, space vector PWM uses the DC-link voltage about 15 percent more effectively than basic sinusoidal PWM, and MTPA picks the current combination that delivers the requested torque with the least current. As our review notes, the same toolkit also powers electric buses and trucks, e-motorcycles, industrial servo drives and electric aircraft. Read our full review of EV Traction Motor Control Engineering.

2. Automotive Functional Safety Engineering

From the Software-Defined Vehicle Engineering Series, this guide puts five pillars side by side: ISO 26262 with its hazard analysis and ASIL A to D ratings, SOTIF (ISO 21448) for hazards that appear even when nothing is broken, cybersecurity under ISO/SAE 21434 and UNECE R155, ADAS features such as automatic emergency braking, and safety-critical software practices like MISRA C and requirements traceability. It is framed around electric and autonomous vehicles from the start, including the hazards of high-voltage batteries, inverters and battery management systems. Read our full review of Automotive Functional Safety Engineering.

3. Hydrogen Economy Engineering

Part of the Energy Systems Engineering Series, this title treats the whole hydrogen value chain as one engineering discipline. It moves from PEM fuel cells (membrane electrode assemblies, bipolar plates and balance of plant) to the choice between alkaline, PEM and solid oxide electrolyzers, and on to compressing, storing, transporting and dispensing green hydrogen safely. In this set it is the book that shows the alternative to battery-electric drive, useful for anyone working on fuel-cell trucks, buses or refuelling stations. Read our full review of Hydrogen Economy Engineering.

4. Electric Aircraft Propulsion Engineering

From the Advanced Mobility Engineering Series, this book is built on three pillars, battery systems, motor controllers and certification, and covers both all-electric and hybrid-electric aircraft. It explains why specific energy is the defining limit of electric flight and how weight, thermal-runaway containment and redundancy shape every design decision. Our review describes it as a natural bridge for EV engineers moving into aviation, which is exactly why it closes this reading path. Read our full review of Electric Aircraft Propulsion Engineering.

Where to buy the set

All four books are sold on Amazon as Kindle eBooks and paperbacks. Direct links for each edition:

At the prices quoted in our reviews, the four Kindle editions together came to about US$12 and the four paperbacks to about US$40. Please check each Amazon page for the current price in your region before buying.

About the author: ChatVariety Team

All four titles are published under the ChatVariety Team name on Amazon. Beyond this set, ChatVariety Team publishes several related engineering series, including further titles on EV power electronics, battery management systems, software-defined vehicle architecture, battery energy storage and urban air mobility. You can browse the full catalogue on the ChatVariety Team author page on Amazon.

Honest verdict: is the full set worth it?

If you are moving into electrification, whether in cars, heavy transport, energy or aviation, these four books give you a connected view: how the drive works, how it is made safe, what hydrogen adds and what changes when the vehicle leaves the ground. At around US$2.99 per Kindle edition at the time of our reviews, the entry cost is low compared with a single training course or a copy of the standards themselves.

The limitation: these are four books from four different series, not one continuous textbook, so expect some overlap in background material and gaps between them. Battery-pack design, for example, is only covered at system level here and has its own dedicated ChatVariety Team titles. All four are also technical books that assume some grounding in circuits, control or thermodynamics, so complete beginners may find them demanding.

FAQ

Is Electrified Mobility Engineering an official box set?

No. It is a reading path curated by ChatStick from four separate ChatVariety Team titles, each from a different Amazon series. Every book is sold and bought separately.

It helps. Our reviews describe all four as technical titles aimed at engineers, engineering students and technical professionals. Basic circuit theory, three-phase AC concepts, control loops or some chemistry and thermodynamics will help you get the most from them.

Choose by role: EV Traction Motor Control Engineering for powertrain and inverter work, Automotive Functional Safety Engineering for safety, ADAS or autonomy roles, Hydrogen Economy Engineering for fuel-cell and electrolyzer projects, and Electric Aircraft Propulsion Engineering for electric aviation.

All four books are available on Amazon as a Kindle eBook and as a paperback.

Electric Aircraft Propulsion Engineering covers both all-electric and hybrid-electric aircraft. The other three books focus on electric drives, safety for electric and autonomous vehicles, and hydrogen.
